IPL 2025 has been suspended because of the serious tension between India and Pakistan. The decision was taken by the BCCI to support the country during this difficult time.
On May 8th, 2025, a match between Punjab kings and Delhi Capitals was cancelled in the middle of the game due to security concerns. On May 9th, 2025, another big match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Cahllengers Bengaluru was also cancelled. Soon after, the BCCI annaounced that the entire IPL 2025 is called off.

The reason behind this decision is due to the ongoing war-like situation. Recently, terrorists attacked Baisaran Valley in Kashmir on April 22nd,2025, where 26 people were killed, most of them were Hindu tourists.
After this,
India launched a mission, “Operation Sindoor,” to destroy terror camps in
Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. On May 8th, the Indian army also shot
down more than 50 Pakistani drones that tried to enter Indian territory at
night. These incidents have increased tension across the borders.
BCCI also stated that “Cricket is important, but the country is more important. We support our government and armed forces. Right now, the nation comes first.”
