Air India Flight to London Crashes Few Minutes After Take Off in Ahmedabad : Live Updates

In a very sad, tragic incident, an Air India flight going from Ahmedabad to London crashed shortly after takeoff on the afternoon of June 12, 2025. The flight numbered AI171 was carrying 242 people, i.e., 232 passengers and 10 crew members. This plane was a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, a big aircraft that is used for international flights.

The flight took off from Ahmedabad airport, but within minutes, it struggled to rise and crashed down at around 1:38 PM. A video was shown in the media showing the plane flying very low in the sky, trying hard to climb, but suddenly hitting the ground and exploding. The plane was filled with fuel, as it was supposed to fly a long distance to London.

Sadly, the plane crashed into a hostel building where doctors from a nearby medical college were staying. The crash damaged the dining area of the hostel. Parts of the plane were seen scattered around the building and thick smoke was rising from the crash.

The pilot also sent ou a may day call, which is an emergency signal, just before the crash. After that there was no response from the aircraft even though the air traffic control tried to reach it.

Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, India’s Civil Aviation Minister, said he is personally monitoring the situation. And he also asked all government and emergency services to work together and act as fast.
