Shashi Kapoor's Demise - Marks the End of an Era

Veteran Actor who is known for his Greek God-like looks and outrageously talented acting skills, Shashi Kapoor has passed away on 4th December 2017. The man who has played many roles in several Bollywood movies and some Hollywood movies as well, is one of the greatest actors Indian Cinema Industry has ever seen. Shashi Kapoor was awarded the Padma Bhushan award by the Indian Government in 2011 and DadaSaheb Phalke Award in 2014.



Shashi Kapoor many wonderful films in Bollywood as well as Hollywood in his lifetime. Some of his most notable Hindi films are Namak Halal, Silsila, Kabhi Kabhie, Aa Gale Lag Jaa, Shaan, Dharma Putra, Suhaag, Trishul, Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Kalyug, Chor Machaye Shor, Junoon, Deewar etc., He also acted in a couple of Hollywood films like The Householder, Shakespeare Wallah, Pretty Polly, Bombay Talkie, Heat and Dust, The Deceivers, Side Streets etc.

He was a good friend of Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan and the two have acted in many films together. Besides many combinations Bollywood has provided us, the Shashi and Amitabh combination is one of the most remembered ones. The duo has acted in more than a dozen films together of which, most have been super hits. Namak Halaal, Silsila, Shaan, Do Aur Do Paanch, Suhaag, Kaala Patthar, Trishul, Deewar, have been some of the most successful films in the history of Bollywood.

Shashi Kapoor was married to Jennifer Kendal who died of Cancer in 1984. The actor has two sons Karan Kapoor and Kunal Kapoor, and a daughter Sanjana Kapoor. Shashi Kapoor won many awards in his lifetime out of which 3 are National Film Awards, two are from the Bengali Film Journalists’ Association awards and many other Awards like the Mohammed Rafi Award etc.
