The Bigg Boss Show, that was prevalent in India for many years in Hindi, has entered Southern India as recently as 2017. The show which was hosted by Tamil Superstar Kamal Hassan became instantly popular among the Tamil audience. Bigg Boss had become so popular that it had completed its first season and soon returned with the second. With Kamal Hassan still hosting the show, the second season had started on 17th June 2018 with 16 contestants.
The Bigg Boss Show is based on the Big Brother format developed in the Netherlands. Big Brother is about making a group of common people living together in a house for a certain number of days and cutting off their communication with the world. Each week the contestants nominate two or three contestants to get evicted from the house and the person on the receiving end of a majority of the nominations faces a public vote. The only change from the original Big Brother format is that Bigg Boss Tamil uses Celebrities as contestants instead of common people.
Similar to Bigg Boss Season 1, Bigg Boss season 2 has some pretty interesting contestants like Yashika Anand-an Instagram star, Ponnambalam (Actor), Mahat (Actor), Daniel Annie Pope (Actor), Vaishnavi (Journalist Writer Sa. Vishwanathan’s Granddaughter), Janani Iyer (Actress), Ananth Vaidyanathan (Voice trainer), Ramya NSK (Singer), Senrayan (Actor), Rithvika (Actress), Mumtaz (Actress), Thadi Balaji (RJ-VJ), Mamathachari (Television Actress), Nithya (Thadi Balaji’s wife & NGO), Shariq Hassan (Actor), and Aishwarya Dutta (Actress).
