One of the trademark shows of Hindi Television, Kaun Banega Crorepati has completed 9 seasons so far and is soon returning with the 10th season. The show will commence on 3rd September 2018 and will be aired at 09:00 PM IST from Monday to Friday on Sony TV.
Kaun Banega Crorepati has premiered on Star Plus and has introduced Indian Superstar Amitabh Bachchan to the Small screen for the first time. It is based on a British program Who wants to be a Millionaire.
Renowned among the audience as KBC, the show was hosted by Amitabh Bachchan in all its seasons except in the third where Shah Rukh Khan was selected as the host. The show was being broadcast on Sony TV Channel from 2010 and is one of the most watched shows on the network.

KBC season 1 started off with Rs 1 crore prize money. It has also marked Amitabh Bachchan’s entry into the small screen.
Season 2 was renamed as Kaun Banega Crorepati Dwititya and offered a prize money of Rs 2 crore. The show ended unexpectedly due to Amitabh Bachchan’s deteriorated Health Condition.
KBC season 3 was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan. Though opened with a high rating, the ratings gradually dropped, and the season was considered a flop.
With the season 4 KBC moved on to Sony TV. It started off with the tagline Koi Bho Sawaal Chota Nahi Hota (No Question is Small) and with a changed format that offered the usual prize money of Rs 1 crore and a jackpot question with a prize money of Rs 5 crore. There also were some changes in rules like the reduced number of questions, the addition of a timer, etc.
Season 5 and Season 6 went on with the same grandiose with slight changes like allowing viewers to earn prize money from home, etc.
The show became bigger than ever in Season 7 and season 8 with the prize money increased to 7 crores. Additional options flip the question and extended time in "phone a friend" option.
With the season 9, the show became the highest watched show on Indian television accruing a TRP of 19.8.
