Bigg Boss Season 1 has been one of the biggest Reality shows in the history of Malayalam Television. The concept of the show which was derived from the Big Brother Reality show in the Netherlands has entered India a decade ago. It had a slow advancement in the Southern parts of India but finally entered Malayalam Television in 2018. The season 1 which was hosted by Mollywood Superstar Mohanlal lasted 98 days and was a great hit.
Season 2 had commenced on the 5th of Jan with the same host and an invariant mix of contestants. Season 2 comprises of Film Actors Rajini Chandy, Saju Navodaya, Thesni Khan, TV Actors Manju Sunichen, Pradeep Chandran, and Veena Nair, Models Alasandra Johnson, Reshma Rajan, Sujo Mathew, TV Anchors Alina Padikkal, Arya Rohit, RJ Raghu Subhash, Singers Pareekutty Perumbavoor, Somadas, Social Activist Dr. Ranjith Kumar, Internet Celebrity Krishnajeev (Fukru) and Suresh Krishnan.
Bigg Boss season 1 has seen the appearance of many celebrities like Kamal Haasan, Stephen Devassy, Mohammad Ghibran, Anant Mahadevan and Pooja Kumar apart from Mohanlal. The season 1 had garnered a viewership of 20.5 million for the premiere with a TVR rating of 10.33. The number rose to 60.15 million for the Finale and garnered a TRP Rating of 30.99. Season 2 is expected to be bigger and could witness the guest appearance of more celebrities.
The season 2 is being shot at Chennai instead of at Lonavala where the first season has been shot. With the show lasting a total of 105 days, the grand finale will be on 19th April 2020. The show is being aired on Asianet from 09:30 to 11:00 PM IST on weekdays and 09:00 PM to 10:30 PM IST on Weekends.
