Indian Lok Sabha Elections were organized in seven phases starting from April 11th 2019. The seventh phase elections had completed on 19th of May and the results will be announced on 23rd of May 2019. You can watch all the updates on Indian News Channels on YuppTV from anywhere in the world for free.

India is under the service of BJP after 2014 elections where BJP led NDA had defeated led UPA with a spectacular majority ending the dominion of INC in India after 10 years. NDA had won 336 seats of 543 and formed a government. With Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister the party had introduced plenty of schemes in the last five years like Make in India, Niti Aayog, Swacch Bharat, etc. The government also introduced the concept of Central tax – GST which is viewed as quite an achievement.

The Surgical Strikes on Pakistan and the increase in military expenditure can also be considered milestones in Indian history. The sudden introduction of Demonetization and forcing people into Digital India were considered failures. They took the main stage along with the increase of communal tensions which was always the case with BJP government.

According the exit polls, the results are favorable to the BJP government in Lok Sabha Elections 2019. The lack of strong opposition leader is one of the reasons for this victory which might have made the people to overlook the flaws in BJP led NDA’s governing. But it is too early to predict anything especially since the parties like Samajwadi Party (SP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), etc., have been forming allegiances to dethrone the national parties. Though an impossible scenario, an allegiance with the Congress at the final hour would not be a surprise.

Many States’ Assembly Elections have also taken place along with the Lok Sabha Elections. States like Delhi, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, etc., had their elections along with various phases of General elections. Anticipation about government formation in these states has been a common debate among the state populace and the national leaders for long periods of time, but to know people’s decision at the state level and at the national level, one must wait till 23rd of May.

Lok Sabha Elections are scheduled to happen in 7 phases across India. Phase 1 elections are scheduled on 11th of April, phase 2 on 18th, phase 3 on 23rd, phase 4 on 29th of April. Phase 5, 6, and 7 will happen on 06th, 12th, and 19th of May. The historic day on which counting is scheduled is May 23rd.

Many states like Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, Nagaland, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Kerala, etc., will have elections in the single-phase itself. States like Assam, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Manipur, Odisha, West Bengal, etc., have their elections in more than one phase.

As is common knowledge Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Indian National Congress (INC) are the major political parties in India. BJP had won a drastic majority over INC in the elections 2014 and is in service currently. Narendra Modi of BJP the former Chief Minister of Gujarat is currently the Prime Minister of India. Rahul Gandhi, the president of Indian National Congress Party is the leader of Opposition.

Given the current political situation in the country, BJP holds a massive majority over INC in the parliament. The situation in the present elections might change and INC might win a significantly higher number of seats in 2019. Though the analysts are predicting that BJP might form a government again, the results might be surprising.

Some states like Arunachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, Kerala, Bihar, UP, Uttarakhand, Meghalaya, Nagaland, etc., have their Assembly Elections alongside the Lok Sabha Elections. Since the state government elections have a significant effect on the majority won in the central government, these elections have become a hot topic too.
