Ram Nath Kovind sworn in as the 14th President of India

Being the second Dalit leader to be elected as the President of India next to KR Narayanan, Ram Nath Kovind is said to be an efficient choice for the presidency by the BJP Government. Ram Nath Kovind took over the office from today 25th July 2017. The man served as a lawyer for 16 years before entering Politics. He was selected as a Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha for 12 years and during this time he served on the Parliamentary committee for Welfare of Scheduled Castes/ Tribes, Petroleum and Natural Gas, Law and Justice, Social Justice and Empowerment etc.

The man has been appointed as the Governor of Bihar in 2015, a decision which was criticized by the Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar as the appointment was made without the consultation of the State Government. However Ram Nath Kovind impressed the people and the party with his decision of constituting a judicial commission to investigate the inconsistencies in the flow of funds, appointment of ineligible candidates in universities, and irregularities in teacher’s promotions. Given his effort as Governor, Nitish Kumar praised Ram Nath Kovind as being unbiased.

Ram Nath kovind is known for his efforts in providing legal aid to the underprivileged sections of the society, accomplishments in the province of education during his service as the member of board of management for B R Ambedkar University and as the member of board of governors of IIM, Kolkata. He is also praised for his efforts as an MP in providing basic infrastructure for education in rural areas.

One of the most sympathizing facts of his life circulating in the media is that he was born under a thatched roof and that he had to walk 8 KM a day to attend Junior School. Ram Nath Kovind, during the tenure of his Parliamentary Membership, had travelled to various countries. He also addressed the United Nations General Assembly in 2002.

It is evident from his track record that Kovind would make an efficient President and that India will prosper under his presidency.
