“Scandal” as we popularly know it, is the word used to describe something bizarre happens in the society. And this “bizarre” includes plenty of things according to the country we are living in. But there is one common definition of Scandal throughout the world. This definition proves to be right in the most developed countries as well as the underdeveloped ones. It is the one where an older woman gets involved with a younger man.
A Love affair or a Casual Relationship between an older woman and younger man is frowned upon in the entire world. Though there are many examples of successful relationships around us, the evolutionary compulsion of males to choose a partner younger than us, which has become a norm in the society still exists in the majority of the population around the world.
The issue is still a taboo even in developed countries like the USA, UK, and Australia. In countries like India, it is just blasphemous. Though the women in cities have reached a stage of self-sustenance, though people are being open about otherwise foreign concepts like dating, and even though women are far more advanced than they were once upon a time, this concept is still considered unthinkable. Amidst conditions like these, Zee TV took a bold step ahead launching a show that portrays the love story between a 24-year-old guy and 42-year-old woman. The guy in the story, Sahil is from a rich, traditional, and business family while the woman, Vedika is from a conservative middle class. The trailer of the serial sure presented both sides of the argument but was emphasizing the fact that it is not a thing that is to be shunned.
The show casts Kinshuk Vaidya and Suhasi Dhami in the lead roles. It aired its first episode on 15th of January 2018 and will be aired seven days a week. This great break from the norm on Zee TV might begin a new era in the world of Tele serials or fall prey to the idiocy of the present Indian society. Let's hope for the best.
