NDA leader and former Prime Minister of India, Atal Bihari Vajpayee finally succumbed to ailments on August 16, 2018. He passed away at the age of 93 at AIIMS hospital, New Delhi. The man was admitted to AIIMS on 11th June 2018 with Kidney Infection, Urinary tract Infection, Low Urine Output, and Chest Congestion. His health deteriorated significantly in the last 24 hours and he was on life support since yesterday.
The attending physician Dr. Randeep Guleria is the current director of AIIMS. Dr. Guleria was also the personal physician of Atal Bihari Vajpayee for the last three decades. Since the deterioration of the BJP leader’s health yesterday, leaders from all over India have been flying in to offer their support on his last day. The news was officially confirmed in the statement released by AIIMS and the time of death as reported is 05:05 pm.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a beloved leader of BJP as well as the nation was one of the best Prime Ministers India has had and is the first Non-Congress PM to serve 5 years as the Prime Minister. He was elected the Prime Minister of India 3 times during which he served 13 days the first time, 13 months the second time and five years the third time.
The man is also attributed with several milestones in his terms as Prime Minister. In his second term as Prime Minister India has conducted its first Nuclear Test after 24 years at Pokhran, in Rajasthan. India joined the list of Powerful Nuclear Efficient countries after this project.
Vajpayee also strived for Diplomatic peace between Pakistan and India in the late 1998s during which the Indian government inaugurated a bus service from New Delhi to Lahore. These steps by the Vajpayee government aided in the expansion of a trade and eased the tensions between both the Nations. It was during this time that Kargil War had happened and under his leadership, Indian Army retaliated with full force which led to the victory of India in the war.
The man was highly revered in BJP and among the other political parties for oratory and extraordinary leadership skills. The government of India declared a seven day mourning period from 16th August and many state governments declared one day holiday in his mourning. May he Rest In Peace.
