The recently released Tamil gangster saga Vendu Thanindhathu Kaadu is available on First shows on YuppTV. Directed by Gautam Menon, the film stars Silambarasan and Siddhi Idnani in the lead roles. This gruesome and grippy story revolves around Muthu, who is forced to leave his village and move to Mumbai for employment, only to be entangled in the fire of violence.
The ignited blaze doesn't spare anyone until one has to 'kill or be killed.' Undoubtedly, this is Silambarasan's best work to date. Silambarasan, the star, is invisible and nowhere can one find his past traces. All you see is a helpless Muthu and his journey from Naduvakurichi to Chembur in real-time in the first part of this duology. Siddhi Idnani is perfect as Paavai and shines in her role with ease.
Written by Jeyamohan, Vendu Thanindhathu Kaadu is an unconventional underworld movie that is entirely raw, real and rustic. This intense crime drama is flawless and not underplayed or overdone. AR Rahman's music and background score are enticing and transpose us to another world. Siddartha Nuni's detailing visuals are brilliant and pragmatic. In a perfect adoption of Jeyamohan's story, Gautam Menon narrates a stunning fantasy that is just realistic. The film moves at a brisk pace and keeps the momentum till the end. This is Gautam Menon's perfect ode to Indian gangster films.
